Addressing Child Trauma in North Carolina

Child trauma has a significant and long-lasting impact on the lives of children, their families, and communities. The task of supporting and connecting organizations addressing child trauma is of utmost importance, given the alarming statistics surrounding the prevalence and impact of childhood trauma.

According to the National Survey of Children’s Health, nearly half of all children in the United States have experienced at least one adverse childhood experience (ACEs), such as abuse, neglect, or household dysfunction. Furthermore, childhood trauma has been linked to a multitude of negative health outcomes throughout the lifespan, such as increased risk for chronic diseases, mental illness, and even premature death.

In North Carolina, there are numerous organizations dedicated to providing support for those affected by childhood trauma. The University of Carolina provided information about these organizations and how they are connecting to address this issue in our state. Connect with us to explore the different programs offered by each organization, as well as discuss current initiatives that are helping to make an impact in reducing child trauma. By highlighting the work being done in North Carolina we hope to inspire readers to get involved with these organizations or take other steps towards addressing this important issue.
